Innovations to manage chronic conditions for seniors at home

Hugo Paredes is Pro-Rector for Digital Transition and Administrative Transformation at University of Trás-os-Montes e Alto (UTAD). He holds an B.Eng. and Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Minho, and the Habilitation title from UTAD. He was a software engineer at SiBS,S.A. and NBO,S.A. Currently he is an Associate Professor with Habilitation at UTAD, where he is the director of the PhD in Informatics. In 2017 he was visiting faculty in the Human Computer Interaction Institute at Carnegie Mellon University. He is a Senior Researcher at the INESC TEC and was Assistant Coordinator of the Centre for Computer Graphics and Information Systems. His main research interests are in the domain of Human Computer Interaction, namely the topic of Human-AI applied to accessibility, active and healthy ageing, and climate change. He is a member of J.UCS board of editors, guest editor of several Special Issues in JCR journals and organized several international conferences. He co-authored more than 150 refereed articles and is one of the inventors of a granted patent and a patent pending request. He coordinates H2020 VR2Care project, participated and lead more than 30 national and international projects, with public and private funding.
