Astrid van der Velde, PhD, is manager of the Cardiology Group at Isala, the Netherlands. Isala Heart Centre is the largest non-academic heart centre of the Netherlands. Innovation is an ongoing theme in her career. She has had several leadership roles in European projects that were part of the sixth and seventh framework programme, the Horizon 2020 programme and the Interreg NWE programme. Furthermore, she is member of several (inter-)national advisory boards of initiatives focussing on hospital care at home. Currently, she is initiator and project leader of the international NWE-Chance project which has the aim to innovate hospital admissions at home. Her ambition is to innovate healthcare for tomorrow.
